What if...?

(just a little rambling thought I had today on the way home from church... and after posting the verse below from yesterday)
"I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well."  2 Timothy 1:5

What if....
I was never raised up in the church?  What if my great grandma never took my grandma to church or my grandma never took my mom?  Would I have ever learned about God and His wonderful Son!?!  I really wonder about that sometimes and can't imagine not never knowing about Their magnificent love for me.  I don't know how people can't know about God or be curious about Him.  I guess if you never really grew up with family members telling you about the Word or around the church you might wonder why it was so important.  To some the Bible is a fiction novel.

I can't wrap my head around that one but they might say the same about not being able to wrap their mind around some One so magnificent that He made this wonderful place we live in!  God made everything, and He made it to be paradise but since He gave us free will we managed to screw that up!  A lot of people wonder how God could cause so much pain in this world, how He could allow people to suffer and die.  I don't totally understand all of it but I do know that God does have a plan in all that He does.

Maybe the person He 'took' from us was only meant to be here for a short time so that we could learn from them.  Everyone that we have a relationship with adds something to our lives, good or bad and we just have to learn to respond to that in a positive way and to praise God for the time we had with them.  Maybe that person that came into our lives was meant to help us grow, to show us how they see things and handle them.  People come in and out of our lives all the time, through death or just by going our separate ways, it is just up to us to say that God put them in our lives for a reason and to really trust that He had a plan all along.

Ok, sorry, back to my original point.   I just can't imagine my life without God!  Yes some would say, "How could He let His Son die on that cross?"  He did it to show us that we have to go through hard times, and yes Jesus went through the worst, but there was a plan for that.  God allowed it so that we could all be forgiven.  No one comes to Him unless they first come to Jesus.  Jesus taught us alot.  He was without sin even when He was tempted He stood strong!  He didn't like His Father's plan about having to die but He did it because He loved us much more than He loved Himself, actually He did it because He trusted in His Father and knew that doing this, we would be forgiven for our sins.  If you ask for forgiveness it will be given but only if you believe and truly mean it!  Doesn't mean you can go out and do whatever and just pray and say forgive me, it doesn't work like that.  You have to believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son and that He was sent here to die for us!

more on this tomorrow...

here's a few verses to go along with today...
John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son

John 14:6-11
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.  If you know Me, you will also know My Father.  From now on you do know Him and have seen Him."
"Lord" said Philip, 'show us the Father, and that's enough for us."
Jesus said to him, "Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip?  The one who has seen Me has seen the Father.  How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?  Don't you believe that I am the Father and the Father is in Me?  The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own.  The Father who lives in Me does His works.  Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me.  Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves."

Hi Nicole,

Thanks for sharing the words of honesty and encouragement. I may never know the answers to my why questions which I've posed to God but I no longer see those answers as relevant or important to my relationship with Christ.

Reading about how you were raised to believe and trust in Christ from childhood tells me of the love shared among your family. Although my faith in Christ didn't occur until adulthood, I still recognize how the grace of God was made available to me; preserving me for God's purpose.

I think that when you don't know God, the concept of having a relationship with Christ is farfetched. You tend to relate to things that are tangible; faith isn't logically tangible. But grace, although it may not be understood, visibly apparent or felt through one's senses is extended to everyone because of one man's death.

Just as you said, Jesus Christ was sent here "to die for us". This general broadcast must be uniquely personalized into Christ died for me to truly grasp and appreciate the significance of God's grace.

Thanks for sharing a really touching and honest expression of faith Nicole.

Blessings and peace.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for the wonderful kind words! (sent you a reply in your email)
I am so thankful and so happy that God still managed to find you in adulthood. I would only hope and pray that if I wasn't raised the way I was that I would still have found Him too!

God bless you MTJ!
