When I say, “I Am A Christian

I got this beautiful email today from a site that I subscribe to and just thought I would share it with you.  I hope it moves you as much as it did me!

When I Say, "I Am A Christian..."
by Carol Wimmer
When I say, “I am a Christian...”
I’m not shouting, “I am saved.”
I’m whispering, “I was lost.”
That is why I chose this way.

When I say, “I am a Christian...”
I don’t speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble
and need someone to be my guide.

When I say, “I am a Christian...”
I’m not trying to be strong.
I’m professing that I’m weak
and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say, “I am a Christian...”
I’m not bragging of success.
I’m admitting I have failed
and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say, “I am a Christian...”
I’m not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are too visible,
but God believes I’m worth it.

When I say, “I am a Christian...”
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I seek His name.

When I say, “I am a Christian...”
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority.
I only know I’m loved.

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the
worst.   But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the
worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an
example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.
1 Timothy 1:15-16
None of us deserve God's love, grace and mercy.   None of us can be good enough to earn God's love, grace and mercy.   We don't deserve and can't earn eternal life.   That is okay, though, because God wants to give all of this to us anyway.   This is His free gift to us through Jesus Christ.   Are you interested?

Hi Nicole,

Don't ask me why I'm up late reading blogs...please.

I like this, especially, "I’m not claiming to be perfect.

My flaws are too visible,

but God believes I’m worth it.
"

Wow! God believes I'm worth it. He carried that cross, hung on it, died at Calvary, and rose...for me!

Thanks for sharing Sis...hugs.

Blessings and peace.

This is an excellent poem by Carol. Chistians sometimes (often?) come across to people as being overly confident, to the point of being arrogant. I know some who do that, for sure. Other times I think people may miss read us, or judge us from the shame of lostness. But even if that is the case, it shows how hard we must work to have the humble posture that Jesus did. Jesus was always right, but never offensive. If we aer going to walk in his path, we must be as caring and humble was well. Carol captured a lot of truth in this poem. Good post. wb
