Comfort through Faith

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)

This is the best part about having faith, the part where our troubles, though they may seem small at times, can help others out when we share them.  Other’s are going through the same thing too.  I have had many tell me that when I am writing about my struggles that they have or are feeling the same way and that it is nice to know they aren’t alone.  Nice to know that through it all I still don’t lose my faith.  I never really used to blame God for my problems, although I am sure there were times I did, but I never used to ‘talk’ with Him and just ask Him to help me through this, show me why I am going through what I am going through, what is His plan.  How can I make it better the way He wants me to, not by just getting so upset and blowing up?

There are also times when I feel so bad when I talk with one of my friends about stuff that is going on because she is a single mom with 2 kids and rarely receives child support, trying to work and go to school.  When I complain about my simple little problems to her there is a part of me saying, “Why am I the one complaining?”

I am so very thankful that she is there for me though when I do need that extra advice.  She has helped me out in so many ways.  I have started trying not to really tell her some of my problems because they just seem so meniscal compared to hers but she has been through some of the stuff I have/am going through.  She has given me scripture to read and given me advice on how she handled certain things when she was married.  It is always nice to have someone that is strong in their faith showing me that through prayer and going to church that God will take care of it.  We just have to have that faith in our Father that He will not let us have more than we can handle.  God never told us that it would be easy but we still need to keep that faith.

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all” 2 Corinthians 4:17

My husband is such a worrier ~ I have to tell him sometimes ~ "If it's not a life or death situation then put it on the back shelf".. " It's not as bad as you think.. on down the road one finds out that it turned out O.K.

  4. Hi Nicole,

You are blessing others through your words. Even though I ain't from The OK, I find encouragement in what you write. Your words echo your life; a life of faith in Christ. Through encouragement comes healing.

Blessings, peace and love my sister.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. - Ephesians 4:29

Have a blessed day! =)
