"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes: its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8
We all hope and pray that our tree will bear fruit that is the kind that others would want to partake of. The kind of fruit that is pleasing to the eye, to body and the soul. We want our fruit to make us strong and to help make others strong.
We need to be careful where we decided to put our roots because in order for the above to happen we must be willing to take care of the tree, to make sure there is nothing that is going to eat away at it and make our fruit rotten, to destroy the life and roots of the tree. We want it to grow strong, to spread out and bear righteous fruit.
Some times it is really hard to make sure we are doing the right thing, staying away from what can corrupt us and our family. I'm not just talking about our regular lives but also what we do in our home. Which sometimes can be just as corrupting as the real world can be. We have to chose what we let into our lives, what will help us to grow and not wither and die. I have been making Maddie watch more shows on GMC (Gospel Music Channel) and a lot of Veggie Tales shows. She doesn't always like it but right now I am calling it her withdrawal stage! lol It's been a little easier for me but my biggest evil is the computer. I try to justify it by the fact that I am looking at Christian blogs and learning and reading scripture so it's good. But it's not good if I am on here so much that I am not taking care of my daughter and our home. So maybe I need to start doing some more pruning and throwing some of the bad stuff into that fire. If there are days, which is so hard for me, that I have not posted then those are the days I have finally decided to spend more time doing what I need to make our family fruitful! I love you guys and love reading and fellowshipping, (yeah I know it's not a real word) with everyone but it's so hard to balance it all and I need to make our Lord happy and my family happy.
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the Word I have spoken to you. Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me."
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in Me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." John 15:1-8
"But the fruit of the Spirit, is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22
Great reflection, Nicole. I agree with the points you made here.

There are valuable lessons to be learned in this post. Using the tree and roots analogy is very good. Thank you for sharing your insight.
