I am a God who gives and gives and gives. When I died for you on the cross, I held back nothing; I poured out My Life like a drink offering. Because giving is inherent in My nature, I search for people who are able to receive in full measure. To increase your intimacy with Me, the two traits you need the most are receptivity and attentiveness. Receptivity is opening up your innermost being to be filled with My abundant riches. Attentiveness is directing your gaze to Me: searching for Me in all your moments. It is possible to stay your mind on Me, as the prophet Isaiah wrote. Through such attentiveness you receive a glorious gift: My perfect Peace
But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. ~Philippians 2:17
Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." ~Mark 10:15
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. ~Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)
My thoughts:
He is showing me right here, how to spend more time with Him, what it takes to stay focused on Him! Yesterdays devotional really hit me since I have been slacking on that time with Him. The time where I am really attentive to Him! And now He is telling me how to have that perfect peace.. just trust in Him and keep my mind focused on Him!
So.. a friend of mine was/is doing a daily devotional called Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. I decided to head on over iTunes and see what they had since I had a gift card for iTunes. They had it so I got it. I really like it. The one I got is more like an app than the audible book but I still like it.
thanks for the posting this. I read the Devo. in my car before work and then forgot the scripture verses and wanted to share with a friend. GB
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, You will not be sorry! "Jesus Calling" is my favorite devotional book! I read it over and over. Be blessed!
ReplyDeleteI need to go through the stuff I brought home from work to find my Jesus Calling calendar. I miss that moment of focus at the beginning of each day.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for the wonderful comments and for letting me share with you! So happy this has touched you all as well.
ReplyDeleteI truly appreciate the fact that you end with your own interpretation of the days devotional. I was given the book by someone I claim to be a mentor and all I can say is I went from January 1 to March 28 in a flash and have barely been able to put "Jesus Calling" down. Good stuff here. I am glad to have found your blog Nicole and look forward to continuing reading through the totality of the devotional book.

Thank you so much Todd for your kind words! Sadly I didn't blog the whole book. Once I went back to work my writing has been put on hold. I need to get back at it though!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed evening!
