Building your house with wisdom

54786
Today as I was reading my bible I went to Proverbs and read.  I started in 23 because that was part of a verse mentioned on The Imperfect Wives blogtalk radio show, so I just read all of chapters twenty-three and twenty-four.

There were things in both that really spoke to me.  I am still new at this but I think He helped give me confirmation on some things I was needing.

I’m not really going to share why they spoke to me today because right now I don’t think I am supposed to.

Of course both chapters really spoke to me but here are the main verses that hit me the hardest!

From Proverbs 23

Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words. ~ verse 9

Do not withhold discipline from a child: if you punish him with the rod, he will not die. Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death. ~ verses 13-14  (not saying I am going to beat my child but that it is OK to discipline her when I need to)

Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path.  Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. ~ verses 19-20

Proverbs 24

Do not envy wicked men, do not desire their company; for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about making trouble. ~ verses 1-2

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. ~verses 3-4 (this is my favorite!)

A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength; for waging war you need guidance, and for victory many advisers. ~verses 5-6

Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste.  know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. ~verses 13-14

Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice, or the Lord will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from him.~ verses 17-18

Fear the Lord and the king, my son, and do not join with the rebellious, for those two will send sudden destruction upon them, and who knows what calamities they can bring? ~ verses 21-22

An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips. ~verse 26

Do not say, “I’ll do to him as he has done to me; I’ll pay that man back for what he did. ~ verse 29

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest- and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.~ verses 33-34

I hope that these spoke to you as well.  If not then please go and read them and find the ones that do speak to you and tie them around your neck, and write them on the tablet of your heart!

Let not mercy and truth forsake you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart, ~Proverbs 3:3

HI Nicole, I really enjoyed reading all of your Scriptures. That's okay not to share. That's between you and God :) :) :) You know what I do...I like to write down those verses that jump out at me, and maybe a brief comment as to why :) :) Also I"m really interested about what the Bible has to say about gossip and money...two topics that have been on my heart lately :) :) So I really want to know what God's word says about both topics. So anytime I come across those, I jot down the references, plus any others that stick out to me. I read an actual Bible of course ;) :) ...but also, I like to read my devotions online using a site called www.youversion.com They have the Bible in all different translations and languages. it's great. It helps keep me on track. I might have mentioned that before? Not sure. Have a lovely day. Thanks for the inspiration :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :) :) :)
