If God is in Control, then why do I have a headache?

98190
I just started going to a woman’s Bible study a few weeks ago and this is the Bible Study we just started this past week.  It’s a pretty good one so far.
Here’s a little bit about it.

Product Description

A woman's spiritual struggles can have a profound impact on her health. It is through our bodies that we are tempted. It is also through our bodies that we serve God. Does God care about our physical struggles?

This six-week interactive study examines the stories of biblical women to reveal that God cares deeply about our bodies and our health. Each week's five day lesson will combine a Bible story with a health issue. The topics covered are: fasting, stewardship of our bodies, depression, chronic illness, attitudes that lead to illness and freedom from toxins. Each day's lesson will offer you the following sections: Inductive Bible Study, Apply God's Word, Up Close and Personal, and A Prayer Opportunity. A Thinking It Over section is at the end of Day 5.

This study is not intended to diagnose or treat any health condition the reader may have. Rather, its purpose is to motivate the believer to realize how much God cares about our physical condition, and its relation to our spiritual lives.

So this is part of why I haven’t been blogging that much, I have just been trying to focus on it and stay off the computer.  I hope everyone has been doing well!!

Oh, and I could use some prayers too… I start teaching 1st & 2nd grade Sunday School classes on Sunday.  I am only doing it for a month but I have never taught before.. prayers on that are more than welcome!  Thanks!  Smile

Overview of the Bible

I got an amazing email yesterday and just wanted to share.  This little boy is amazing!!

The link is to a  video of a nine year old boy who got up on Dec. 26th to tell the congregation what he learned in 2010 by reading through the whole Bible.  This young man attends church at Pleasant Valley church of Christ in Little Rock Arkansas.  Keep in mind there are about 2000 members at Pleasant Valley quite a large audience for a nine year old boy who spoke without notes.
In 2010 the elders at Pleasant Valley set out a plan for the congregation to read through the whole Bible using the Chronological Bible put together by F. Lagard Smith.  I think you will be impressed with this young man!

Need to breathe

Sorry I haven’t been around lately.  Been crocheting some stuff and selling them, finished up a Bible Study, starting a new one for our Woman’s Bible Study and also will be teaching Sunday School starting in April!  Trying to find the time to actually sit and read and meditate on it all is what is the hard part.  I am kinda scared about teaching too.  I will be teaching first and second graders so I am hoping that won’t be too hard.  Never have taught before so any prayers are welcome!  Smile

Anyways, just wanted to say ‘Hey’ and let you all know I am still around just been a little busy and nothing has really hit me to write about.

Hope you are all doing well!!

Here’s the little chicks I have been making.

My expectation is from Him

5 My soul, wait thou in silence for God only;6 He only is my rock and my salvation:7 With God is my salvation and my glory:8 Trust in him at all times, ye people;
Psalm 62:5-8

"My expectation is from him."

It is the believer's privilege to use this language. If he is looking for aught from the world, it is a poor "expectation" indeed. But if he looks to God for the supply of his wants, whether in temporal or spiritual blessings, his "expectation" will not be a vain one. Constantly he may draw from the bank of faith, and get his need supplied out of the riches of God's lovingkindness. This I know, I had rather have God for my banker than all the Rothschilds. My Lord never fails to honour his promises; and when we bring them to his throne, he never sends them back unanswered. Therefore I will wait only at his door, for he ever opens it with the hand of munificent grace. At this hour I will try him anew. But we have "expectations" beyond this life. We shall die soon; and then our "expectation is from him." Do we not expect that when we lie upon the bed of sickness he will send angels to carry us to his bosom? We believe that when the pulse is faint, and the heart heaves heavily, some angelic messenger shall stand and look with loving eyes upon us, and whisper, "Sister spirit, come away!" As we approach the heavenly gate, we expect to hear the welcome invitation, "Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." We are expecting harps of gold and crowns of glory; we are hoping soon to be amongst the multitude of shining ones before the throne; we are looking forward and longing for the time when we shall be like our glorious Lord--for "We shall see him as he is." Then if these be thine "expectations," O my soul, live for God; live with the desire and resolve to glorify him from whom cometh all thy supplies, and of whose grace in thy election, redemption, and calling, it is that thou hast any "expectation" of coming glory.

Remain in Me…

                         and I will remain in you. ~John 15:4a

We need to remain in Him, in His Word, in His Father’s Word so that we will remain close to Him and grow and bear fruit.

The passage I spoke about in yesterday’s post explains it all.   He speaks of Remaining in His word, His love nine times.  We need to remain in Him and His words so that we will be strong and bear fruit like we were made to do!

Jesus, the True Vine

“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and He prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.  You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.  Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in Me.

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.  Anyone who does not remain in Me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.  But if you remain in Me and My words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!  When you produce much fruit, you are My true disciples. This brings great glory to  My Father.

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved Me. Remain in My love.  When you obey My commandments, you remain in My love, just as I obey My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.  I have told you these things so that you will be filled with My joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!  This is My commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.  There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.  You are My friends if you do what I command.  I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are My friends, since I have told you everything the Father told Me. You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using My name.  This is my command: Love each other.

He chose ME!! =)

Our church has been doing the Bible Study… The Power of a Whisper by Bill Hybels, I done a few posts about it.

Well, I have been waiting and I haven’t really heard anything, but I do tend to have a hard time listening and my mind never shuts off! I don’t get a chance to really be ALONE with my Father like I need to.  I am going to have to sit down and have a talk with hubby and see if I can just leave the house to find somewhere quiet to go….

See.. I just go off on anything…sorry about that… anyways…

Sunday Bro. Tom was reading a passage Jesus the True Vine I love this passage too.   While he was reading, he got through almost the whole thing but once he got to verse 16, that part just jumped out at me, it was so loud and drowned out Tom for a bit.  So, since I am still fairly new at hearing His whispers, I would like to say that was one of them.  When it is something that is so loud in your head and drowns out everything else.  It is from Him!  and what a great whisper it was.

You didn’t choose Me, I chose you!

WOW!  I love that!  He chose me, from the beginning I was His!  Sorry Daddy that it took me so long to understand that.  I just really loved that whisper I got and now, when things are going bad, which they sometimes do.  I can go back to that beautiful stake I have, that powerful whisper from my Daddy!!

The World’s Hatred

“If the world hates you, remember that it hated Me first.  The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.  Do you remember what I told you? ‘A slave is not greater than the master.’ Since they persecuted Me, naturally they will persecute you. And if they had listened to Me, they would listen to you.  They will do all this to you because of Me, for they have rejected the One who sent Me.  They would not be guilty if I had not come and spoken to them. But now they have no excuse for their sin.  Anyone who hates Me also hates My Father.  If I hadn’t done such miraculous signs among them that no one else could do, they would not be guilty. But as it is, they have seen everything I did, yet they still hate Me and My Father.  This fulfills what is written in their Scriptures: ‘They hated Me without cause.’
“But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about Me. And you must also testify about Me because you have been with Me from the beginning of My ministry.
John 15:18-27

I just love this passage.  I had to highlight the part about Him choosing us… I will explain more on that tomorrow.

This whole passage is so amazing, yet it is so scary, but it jut shows that from the beginning, there have been people out there trying to make us deny our Lord, to turn from Him, not follow Him.  They don’t believe so they think they can persecute those of us who do.  Our Father will always be with us, and He will carry us through.  He never told us it would be easy (a reminder to myself) and never said there wouldn’t be tears, heartache, loss and pain if we followed Him.  He did promise that He will get us through it, that we will win in the end!  So, we all need to put on our Armor, stand strong and firm in this battle.  This will be the strongest fight we have ever had to deal with!

I don’t even want to get into what all I am meaning by battle, there are too many battles out there, in our homes, in our towns, states, country, in this world.  So as long as you have your Armor on and trust in His word, get out there and tell others and testify!

Imperfect Wives: Do you know your ABC's

From The Imperfect Wives

Good morning, everyone!

Today's show is focusing on The Proverbs Wife.

Proverbs 31:10-31 is an ALPHABETIC ACROSTIC. What is an alphabetic acrostic? It is a literary device using the letters of the alphabet in order to begin verses (portion of a verse or collection of verses). Most likely, in addition to making the points easier to remember, it also implies a comprehensive or “A-Z” treatment of a particular topic. Join Rebecca and Cherie as they break down who the Proverbs 31 Wife is and how this translates to us.

Show starts at 10:00am this morning. Click on the link below and you will be taken right to the show. You can join as a guest or create an account and join us in the chat room if you don't have one already.

Chat room opens at 10 minutes till to give everyone time to settle in.

We hope you will join us!

Until He Came

Until He Came
I did not live
Until He came to me,
The Lord of life,
The Man of Galilee.
He found me
Full of pride
and self and sin;
He cleansed my heart
and came and entered in.
And now I live
abundantly and free,
and yet not I;
It is the Christ
who lives in me.
Oh, help me, Lord;
Help thou my will to be
each hour surrendered
To the will of thee.
For this is life
for all eternity!

How’s your cornerstone?

cornerstone
A lot of times, especially in biblical times, when they make a house, they start out with a cornerstone.  If that cornerstone wasn’t exactly right, then the house was going to be off some how too.  So Brother Tom’s question to us Sunday morning was, “How’s your cornerstone?”
I want to say my corner stone is perfect, but there are may times I think my cornerstone was a little ‘off’.  Thank God for His grace, that He has helped me tear it down and start over, helping me to get it straight and solid.

Together, we are His house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus Himself. ~Ephesians 2:20

proverbs 31 11-12.png2

wfw
here is the other version I also had but decided to post the one above instead.
proverbs 31 11-12
I was just trying to show what ‘harm’ is.  It isn’t always physical, it can be the lack of respect, the nagging, closing ourselves off from him, resentments, not submitting.  Any of that.  I just felt the picture kind of took away from the verse but I also kind of liked it because it is a good reminder for myself….

I’m being interviewed!

I have meet some new blogging friends!  I love it when you meet new bloggers, especially bloggers that share the passion of our Lord! I received an email from Angie the other day and she asked me if I would be willing to be interviewed.  I can say I was shocked and honored!

I have always kind of wondered if my blog impacted others or if it was just a blog of my walk for me.  Yes, I know I do have followers and there are some that comment, but you know how it is, you still always wonder if you are making any kind of difference in this world.  Now I know, that at least to a few, I am!   It is all His doing though, none of this would have happened without my Father, guiding me with what I write about and leading me to meet some wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ!!

So if you would like to check out my interview, then head on over and check out Angie’s blog, Joyful Living!

I hope she doesn’t mind me posting this but here is the email I got that made me want to cry! Smile

I am encouraged and challenged by your walk with the Lord.

I blog over at Joyful Living

I wanted to drop you a note and ask you if you would consider doing an interview post. I have a few questions I would like to ask you about your walk with the Lord etc. and I would like to do a blog post about you.

I plan to do this with several women and do a series on interviews about Walking with the Lord as well as living Titus 2.

Would you consider this? If so I would greatly appreciate it. As well I am sure it would be a blessing to others.

I would email you the questions I would like you to answer. You can answer them and email them back to me. If there is any questions you don't feel comfortable asking I totally understand I would leave them out.

I myself am perusing a deeper more intimate relationship with my Savior and I am so encouraged by hearing about other people's walk with the Lord as well

I appreciate you considering this and look forward to hearing more about your walk with the Lord.

In service for the King,
Angie

What are your stakes?

istockphoto_1581564-tent-stake

Today during our Bible Study from “The Power of a Whisper” by Bill Hybels, there was a lady he had on his DVD, that we watched before our we went and discussed it, that was talking about whispers from God being like stakes.  Something that you can go back to as your ‘stake’ in your walk with our Father.  I thought it was pretty neat and I loved the idea of putting it like that!

The whispers you hear from God are our stakes, the ones that you can go back to time and again when you need that extra boost, when you don’t think He is talking to you as much anymore, you can go back to those ‘stakes’ and remember and relish in those times to give you that reassurance you need!  Our ‘stakes’ are our ties to our Father!!

What are your stakes?  What can you go back to that is that stake in your faith, that constant that you can always go back to?

Make sure you come back tomorrow for a nice surprise!! Pin It

My hope for you

Is that you can find that church that is your home.  The one that when you walk in, you just want to throw you stuff in a pew, kick off your shoes, spread out your Bible, notebook for taking notes and just sit back and relax!

I so love our church and am always so happy to be there every Sunday.  I just wish that we lived closer, (I drive almost an hour each way) so that I could go to the Wednesday service and the Sunday evening service.

I love how loving our church is.  How encouraging they are to each other.  Just how real they are!

I also hope that you can find that preacher/pastor that is truly one that God has picked.  I love our preacher, when he preaches you just know that God is speaking through him!  It is just so amazing how I just want him to keep going, I could listen to him preach all day!

I am sure a lot of you have already found this but for those of you that haven’t, I hope and pray that you will.  I didn’t always understand how important it was to have that church family, even though I went to church all the time when I was growing up, but now I understand!!  Thank you God for that!!!

He will guide you!

“The LORD says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you’” Psalm 32:8

WOW!  How powerful is that?  That is just an amazing promise from our Father.  It just comforts me in the times when I have NO idea on what I am doing, if what I am doing is what He wants from me.

I just really love that He gives us all these wonderful promises and guidelines for what He wants.

When I am so scared, depressed, unsure, it is so nice that He is there for us.
That His words are like He is reaching down and hugging us, showing us the way we need to go.

There is nothing more comforting then calling out to Him when you are at your breaking point and then having that peace wash all over you!

I just love those hugs He sends to us, the ones that just tells us He is here for us and everything will be alright!

So, are you willing to let Him guide you!?!

Praying Always

"Praying always."

*this is from my Morning & Evening reading Plan from YouVersion.  This is not written by me, but for more great devotionals, go and check them out!

What multitudes of prayers we have put up from the first moment when we learned to pray. Our first prayer was a prayer for ourselves; we asked that God would have mercy upon us, and blot out our sin. He heard us. But when he had blotted out our sins like a cloud, then we had more prayers for ourselves. We have had to pray for sanctifying grace, for constraining and restraining grace; we have been led to crave for a fresh assurance of faith, for the comfortable application of the promise, for deliverance in the hour of temptation, for help in the time of duty, and for succour in the day of trial. We have been compelled to go to God for our souls, as constant beggars asking for everything. Bear witness, children of God, you have never been able to get anything for your souls elsewhere. All the bread your soul has eaten has come down from heaven, and all the water of which it has drank has flowed from the living rock--Christ Jesus the Lord. Your soul has never grown rich in itself; it has always been a pensioner upon the daily bounty of God; and hence your prayers have ascended to heaven for a range of spiritual mercies all but infinite. Your wants were innumerable, and therefore the supplies have been infinitely great, and your prayers have been as varied as the mercies have been countless. Then have you not cause to say, "I love the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplication"? For as your prayers have been many, so also have been God's answers to them. He has heard you in the day of trouble, has strengthened you, and helped you, even when you dishonoured him by trembling and doubting at the mercy-seat. Remember this, and let it fill your heart with gratitude to God, who has thus graciously heard your poor weak prayers. "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."

The Power of a Whisper

Our church is doing a new Bible Study this month about The Power of a Whisper by Bill Hybels.  It’s pretty exciting and very powerful.  We just started it this past Sunday but what I have read so far it is so inspiring!!  We had to read 3 chapters before last Sunday and then we have to read 2 chapters before next Sunday.  They are very easy to read and, like I said before, very inspiring!

Here’s what they had on Amazon about it.
From Publishers Weekly
Hybels, founding pastor of the globally influential Willow Creek Community Church, writes about learning to hear the "communicating God." Describing his life as a 50-year whisper-fueled odyssey, he says he waited nearly four decades to write this book because of controversy surrounding claims of hearing divine messages. In contrast to those who are certain they have heard God speak, Hybels points readers to the Holy Spirit's subtle "Wind Words," saying the problem is not God's silence but whether Christians have ears to hear. Hybels weaves personal stories, biblical principles, and global stories of others, saying no goal is more critical than keeping a "pliable heart before God." He writes that his suburban Chicago megachurch and its worldwide associated network of churches exist today because at low points in Hybels's life, God "graciously whispered to me."

I really encourage anyone that wants to hear His whispers to check it out!!

Coming Alive in Christ

Some of you know my testimony and for those of you that don’t really you can find it on the About Me page..

This is about how I came up with the name for my blog.

After I rededicated in July, my life totally changed.  I have never felt so at peace, so happy, so loved!!  I was doing a google search for dancing women and I found the one in my header.  I used to have her as my full header until I changed it a month or so ago.

Anyways… when I saw her I just knew that was the picture for me!  She looked like I felt, and still feel.  Happy, loved at peace with herself and with the world!

I have never had this kind of relationship with our Father and our brother Jesus before.  I am so thankful that I have been reborn.  When I read that verse before I never really understood it, but now.. wow!  I totally get it!!  Makes you feel like you are breathing for the first time, learning to walk again, seeing things so clear and so different now!  It is just amazing!!

This is the first verse that came to me when I was praying about starting my new blog, what to call it and what verse… I wanted something to show my new life and how I felt

dancing banner

I love that, He is rich in mercy, and by His grace I have been saved!!!  The whole verse just shows so much of His love, mercy and grace!!
then this was the second verse I found

1000 pixel

and thank you oh Lord for that!!  I am a new creation!!  I have been reborn!  YAY!!!!
and here is the one I used in yesterday’s post… the verse I was talking about above, about being reborn!

Ok… and here is one more for ya… another favorite verse.  Smile

Encourage One Another

My aunt introduced me to this new blog, Testify, and I just wanted to join in on their new meme.  I am liking their blog and love that they are from Oklahoma too! Smile
They have started a new meme and I just thought I would join in..

encourage-meme

Today's question:
Please share with us your life verse or a verse or  2, from the Bible, that has really spoken to you. Tell us how that verse has touched your heart and life.

I did this yesterday on My Mad World and just wanted to do share it here.  I already had a post for yesterday so I didn’t want to do 2 in 1 day…
I have so many that speak to me.. you can see the Encourage One Another post on my other blog to see the other ones and the one I did yesterday here would work great too.

This picture jumped out at me when I was searching for pics to do my header with.  I love the happiness in her!  I will post more on that later…

You have searched me, Lord!

search me Lord

Psalm 139
For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.

You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,"
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.

If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

I just really love this passage and thought I would share it today.  Nothing really to add or take away from it… then again we aren’t supposed to do that anyways!  No other thoughts either except…
AMEN!!!

The Full Armor of God!

Armor of God
  This is one of the greatest passages ever!  I have always liked it but until I rededicated my life it really didn’t have the same meaning it does now.  Here lately I have been reading this more and more and more and more…

Oh how we need to do this each and everyday so we can be prepared for the devil’s schemes!  Unfortunately he is too good at that and way too often we forget to strap on the Armor of God. (because I don’t want him anywhere near this family or in this house!)  This is something we should do the moment we wake up!!  I have to admit that there are many days this isn’t the first thing that I put on… life gets in the way and I know it shouldn’t but as long as we remember to strap it on sometime throughout the day then that is better than never putting it on at all.

What comfort it is that we can strap on that belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, strap on our boots or sandals for the gospel of peace, grab that shield of faith, strap on that helmet of Salvation and grab up our sword of the Spirit!   What better outfit to come out and face this world with?
Like my wonderful friend Rebecca said Tuesday, Don’t be a Spiritual Streaker!  streaker
Strap on that Armor of God!!

Here’s another wonderful picture I found while searching for a woman in armor…

The Armor of God
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
